VENUS 01 explores the tension between the rigid and the soft — translating the physical language of traditional corsetry into a digital body.
Individually constructed and fitted to a custom avatar, the corset draws on traditional pattern-making and corsetry techniques while confronting a distinctly digital challenge: unlike the human body, a virtual body does not naturally yield under pressure.
The project explores how compression, fit and silhouette can be reinterpreted within this limitation, bringing the visual language of tightly laced corsetry into a medium without flesh.
The custom avatar, garment construction, fit and final visualization were created by Mahir Aslan. The garment was developed in CLO3D, with materials created across CLO3D and Substance 3D Designer.
